Why should I invest in fine art portraits?

Chances are, there are hundreds if not thousands of photos on your phone β€” each one a captured moment in time. But, what good are they stored in a digital device? And worse, what happens if the technology were to fail? While it’s impossible to artfully and permanently capture each important moment in time for your family, a fine art portrait is an investment in your family for years and generations to come. Preserving the preciousness that is you and yours.

How much do I need to pay upfront?

Our Signature Session fee is $550 and includes a 45 minute shoot with one custom 8x10 inch print plus social media sized digital files of any image(s) that you purchase as artwork. All additional artwork is a la carte.

What about digital files?

In this digital age, digital files are often one of our most asked about questions. Digital images are available (yes, you can share on social β€” please do!) however the true experience of Hartshorn Portraiture is captured best in our framed heirloom artwork.

We are open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Weekends and holidays are by appointment only.

How do I pay for my portrait session?

Payment in full is required to secure your appointment and can be handled over the phone with a credit card. We will email your receipt and confirmation of your portrait session and presentation appointment. A studio credit will be issued if you are unable to attend your appointment. No refunds are available.

When do I view my portraits?

Your photo presentation is scheduled two to four weeks following your photo session at our Hoboken studio. Using our 55” flat screen TV in our luxe studio setting, you will watch a slide-show presentation of your beautiful portraits set to music. Our design consultant will work with you to collect a series of images that you love, which will be tailored to the individual needs of your family and home.

When do I place my order?

Due to the custom nature of our work, orders are placed at the time of your projection appointment and paid in full. No images are held or put aside and all sales are final.

Who should be present at the photo presentation?

Please make sure that all decision makers attend the presentation, as your portraits are an investment. We kindly suggest that only adults attend so that you may focus on the task at hand. Your presentation will be rescheduled for a later date if all decision makers are not present.

How long is the photo presentation?

You should allow up to two hours for your photo presentation. As all sales are final, we like to ensure that you are not rushed and are confident and excited about your new pieces of art.

We archive the images you select at the photo presentation indefinitely.

How do I prepare for the presentation?

At your consultation we will review the various print options with you. Use the time leading up to your presentation to think about what you would like to see as an end result. If you are interested in fine art portraits for your home or office, take the time to measure the wall spaces available and bring photos of those walls. Jennifer can upload these images and measurements and show your gorgeous images to scale on your wall. Please feel free to bring color or fabric swatches with you so that we may coordinate your framing appropriately. If you have any questions regarding our policies, please call us before the presentation.

Do I get to keep the digital files?

Digital files are shown at the presentation appointment but do remain the property of the studio. We do gift you social media sized images of any that you purchase as artwork. In certain cases, individual digital files are available to purchase.
