Jennifer’s Spring Self Care

Share Post:

In keeping with the “spring cleaning” vibes, I recently asked Gerry, my hairdresser and owner of Hudson Square Salon for some spring hair tips, and he stressed the importance of scalp care. We often think of using the best shampoos and conditioners for our hair types, but scalp care is essential for healthy hair, too! He recommends the Goop Himalayan Salt Scrub for the scalp  — which cleanses your hair and scalp of product buildup, dirt, and oil. (It also smells amazing, with hints of rosemary, geranium, orange, and peppermint. SO fresh.)

Did you know you can also DIY yourself a scalp scrub at home, with just avocado and sea salt? Yep. Just smash a ripened avocado into a paste, add course sea salt, and scrub to your hearts content.

I’ve also started giving my hair some more TLC by using a scalp serum for growth and restoration, and a leave in conditioner each time I wash my hair. Anyone else’s hair super dry right now? It took me many years to realize shampoo and conditioner is just not enough if you want great hair.

When it comes to my skin, this season I’m trying to focus on indulgences like serums and masks. I have a pretty good skincare routine when it comes to cleansing and moisturizing, but treatments are where I can use some extra help — they just take time!

So, I’ve recently found this blog post by Brooklyn Blonde where she shares her favorite face masks. I love Clarins, so I’m excited to try this Intense Depuffing Mask, which refines facial contours, brightens the complexion, and restores radiance. Who couldn’t use more of that?

What are some of your favorite spring self-care spurges? Let me know — you know I am always down to try new things.
